Hero’s Journey and your Calling
Every hero faces challenges that shape who they become. Tell us about a challenge you have faced, what you did about it, and how it changed you. What might the next chapter of your Hero’s Journey look like?
What do you believe you are uniquely good at—or could become exceptionally good at? How might you use that gift to serve others or change the world?
Imagine yourself at age 25. What kind of person do you hope you have become? What do you hope you have accomplished, and what choices will you need to make between now and then to get there?
Character & Responsibility
Tell us about a time you failed, made a mistake, or disappointed yourself. What happened? What did you learn, and what would you do differently today?
Which matters more: talent, hard work, or character? Make an argument for your answer using examples from your own life or people you admire.
Describe a time when you had to do something difficult without someone forcing you to do it. What motivated you to keep going?
There are no "right" answers, however, please write everything in your own words. (AI is easy to detect and you will be disqualified if it’s not in your own words.)We are much more interested in hearing your real voice and your real story than reading a perfect essay.
Length:
About 300-750 words for ages 15-18
About 150-200 words for ages 12-14
